I feel it is important to explain the way I approach practice at the Bricketwood Chiropractic Clinic. Just like every patient is different, so is every healthcare practitioner; to begin with everyone has a different set of hands.
Specifically, one of my major focuses is posture and the correction of postural problems. Why? I do this because posture is the window to our spine. This means by assessing posture, I can evaluate how your spine lies and if there is any added pressure on the nervous system. During your examination, I will explain what normal posture is and how I can check for this. If you have postural discrepancies there is an increase in the amount of physical stress placed on the body. By correcting posture, we are trying to prevent future reoccurrences, rather than focussing entirely on pain management. Pain is a warning signal. This means when pain is present, it is likely the underlying problem has been present for some time.
In addition to assessing your main complaint, I will assess your lifestyle and habits. In doing so, this allows me to see if you have any chemical or emotional stresses in your daily living. Areas I may cover include diet, sleep patterns and amount of exercise undertaken, to name a few.
Whilst assessing a patient, it is of utmost importance that everything is explained in detail. This helps to educate my patients using the latest scientific research, and ensures you are happy with my approach. You play a very important role in your healthcare, so never be afraid to ask questions. The greater your understanding, the more you will benefit from care, both whilst being treated and beyond into your own personal life. It is you who makes the decision to book an appointment; that in itself shows you are prepared to make a change in your life.
